Dad's old office
I used to through paper airplanes and helicopters out of the 23rd floor of this building. It looks like it is falling down now. I bet it was built in the 30's.
Watching the Gator Bowl Parade
Nice warm evening in downtown Jax. The Va. Tech mascot is a bird called a Hokie. So guess what their band played when they march? Hint: there is a dance that goes with the song. Lots of Shriners and Pirates in this parade.
Sea Kayaking in the Atlantic
I wiped out on my last attempt. You really have to guide the boat correctly. Fina loved being in a wetsuit.
St. Johns in Bostwick FL
Somewhere in the swampy wetlands on the right, Dad had me pull out a canoe from the muck that had been submerging into the jungle for years. There were elephant ears (Cladiums?) growing into the sides of the fiberglass hull. We were able to dump out most of the muck but it was too dirty to take the kids out in it. Dad's neighbor was able to help us get the canoe out to the road by cutting a swath with his huge deisel tractor/mower through the brush. He almost got stuck. The neighbor interrupted his piano practice to help us. Good thing he was home and not in Vancouver, BC where he does sculpture in the summer. I told him that the encounter was like "Deliverence". I hope that didn't seem like I was calling him a redneck.
Bonnie Tobiann Fina and Catherine on the dock
Apperture went crazy. The roof is rustic and adds charm.
